The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) of 2008 requires that recognized accreditors collect and monitor this information. The Commission is not yet recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit correspondence education. Requesting information about institutions correspondence education programs will enable the Commission to determine if it needs to request an expansion of scope from the U.S. Department of Education to include correspondence education.
